Eric Nowak, Guest Speaker for “Great American Teach-In” at Plant High School

Eric Nowak participated in the annual “Great American Teach-In” held on November 18th. Acting on his desire to help the youth of Tampa’s community, Eric dedicated his time to the students at Plant High School as a guest speaker for their 9th grade government honors class. While there, Eric discussed his personal journey to becoming an attorney. He spoke about his job and duties as an attorney and answered general questions regarding his position. Afterward he elaborated on the structure of the judiciary system and the role of attorneys within that system. He concluded his lecture with details about the process of taking a case from client retention to trial. Eric joined de la Parte & Gilbert in 2009; his primary area of practice is civil litigation.

Pat McNamara, Speaker at Upcoming Landlord-Tenant Law Seminar

Pat McNamara will be speaking at a Continuing Legal Education seminar on the topic of Green Construction. The seminar is scheduled to be held January 11, 2011 at the Doubletree Guest Suites on North Rocky Point Drive West, in Tampa.

Sara A. Younger Joins Firm

Sara Younger, a recent honors graduate of the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, recently joined the firm as an associate attorney. Sara clerked at de la Parte & Gilbert during the summer of 2009 and joined the firm full time in 2010. Sara will primarily practice in the area of civil litigation.

Team de la Parte & Gilbert’s fundraising efforts go to Miles for Moffitt

For the fifth year in a row, just as they have since the first Miles for Moffitt race in 2006, lawyers, staff, and family members of de la Parte & Gilbert, P.A. raised funds and participated in the Miles for Moffitt 5K Run/Walk held May 15, 2010 at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Early Saturday morning, Team de la Parte & Gilbert, along with thousands of others, walked to celebrate and honor loved ones and friends stricken by cancer. Proceeds from Team de la Parte & Gilbert’s fundraising efforts go to Miles for Moffitt, which was created to support cancer research at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute. Team de la Parte & Gilbert hopes its contribution will help to make a positive impact on finding a cure for cancer.

Nowak accepted to J. Clifford Cheatwood American Inn of Court

Eric Nowak has joined the J. Clifford Cheatwood American Inn Of Court as a pupil. The American Inns of Court provide judges, lawyers, and law students an opportunity to participate actively in developing a deeper sense of professionalism, achieving higher levels of excellence and furthering the practice of law with dignity and integrity.

Eric joined de la Parte & Gilbert in 2009 and practices primarily in the area of civil litigation.

Melton recognized for leadership and volunteerism

Kristin Melton was recognized for community leadership and volunteer service during The Tampa Connection’s recent 25th Annual Graduation Ceremony. Melton, Class of 2010, joined the ranks of more than 1,500 professionals who have graduated from The Tampa Connection since 1985. The Tampa Connection is an all-volunteer, nonprofit leadership program that prepares mid-level professionals for active volunteerism and leadership in the Tampa Bay community.
