  • Nicolas Q. Porter delivered a presentation titled “The Central Florida Water Initiative: Overview and Issues” at the January 18, 2012 American Water Works Association Regulatory Trends Workshop in Orlando, FL.

    Mr. Porter discussed the formation and goals of the CFWI, water resource permitting and planning issues being addressed by the initiative, and the implications for water resource regulation in the state.



    Edward P. de la Parte, Jr. , Jr. was a panelist at the 18th Annual Public Interest Environmental Conference, which was held on February 23-25, 2012 at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. The conference was held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of both the Florida Water Resources Act and the Clean Water Act, and the theme was “Fishable, Swimmable? 40 Years of Water Law in Florida and the United States.” Mr. de la Parte was on the panel discussing “Who Owns Our Most Precious Resource? Private Rights in Public Waters.”

    Patrick J. McNamara was recently honored for his many years of service to the local baseball community and the Interbay Little League, in particular. In a ceremony held February 25, league representatives unveiled signage for the newly named Patrick J. McNamara Junior/Senior Baseball Field.

    Pat has made time during his tenure with the League to serve as both a Board Member and a Coach and his unflagging commitment has earned him respect from the organization as well as from players and parents.

    Pat, who is de la Parte & Gilbert’s Vice Managing Shareholder, also devotes significant energy to several other community service groups, including Prevent Blindness Florida.

    Richard A. Gilbert, along with Wm. Reece Smith, Jr., will be making presentations during "Ethics at Sea." The 4 Hour CLE seminar is being presented by The Hillsborough County Bar Association in association with Bay Area Legal Services. Rich Gilbert will talk on "Ethics in Trial Advocacy" The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion regarding ethical issues faced in the practice of law. The seminar will be presented aboard the Carnival Paradise which sails to Cozumel, Mexico from March 1 through March 5.
